“Sometimes faith is just like fighting a disease, you close your eyes and hope it goes away.”

Stronger at the Broken Places
Tony Fulgham was speaking about North Twin’s second release Stronger at the Broken Places earlier this year. Fulgham (singer and guitarist) was reflecting on the process of writing and recording the album under the shadow of Rebecca Young’s (bass, vocals) diagnosis with breast cancer.
“Fear of death and love are big on this record,” he further explains. In 2007, while finishing their debut release Falling Apart, Young was diagnosed. During the completion of Stronger at the Broken Places she was working after having a porta-cath placed. “In a nutshell, that means they punched a hole in her chest and mainlined poison straight to the heart. But most people wouldn’t even have known she was fighting a disease,” recalls Fulgham.
The songs contain a sense of urgency. It’s got a bit of an edge. It’s determined. Fulgham’s big, deep voice fits perfectly to the alt-country vibe of the quartet (Fulgham and Young are joined by guitarist Tim DiJulio and drummer Rick Cranford).
